다. 우리말로 진정 또는 진정작용이라는 뜻의 sedation의 보다 정확한 의미를 이해하기 위해서는 general anesthesia와의 비교가 필요하다. 그리고 이 두 상태의 경계부에 deep sedation이 위치한다. conscious state의 대표적인 상태가 conscious sedation이며, unconscious state의 대표적인 상태는 general anesthesia이다.
